Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Works Engineer to join our team. As a Public Works Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing the construction and maintenance of various public infrastructure projects. This role requires a strong background in civil engineering, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and excellent project management skills. The Public Works Engineer will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research, surveys, and investigations to gather relevant data for project planning.
- Develop detailed engineering plans, designs, and specifications for public infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, drainage systems, and utilities.
- Prepare and review cost estimates, budgets, and project schedules.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and consultants to ensure the successful implementation of engineering designs.
- Oversee the construction and maintenance of public works projects, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor project progress, address any issues, and provide technical guidance.
- Prepare and review engineering reports, feasibility studies, and environmental impact assessments.
- Collaborate with government agencies, stakeholders, and the public to address concerns and ensure project transparency.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements related to public works engineering.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in public works engineering or related roles.
- In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and techniques.
- Proficiency in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent project management abilities, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and team members.
- Sound understanding of applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
